I left around 14:30 and headed for the bridge club and saw some success - enough to pay the expenses for a couple of days anyway. Around 7:00 I headed towards Barbican station for dinner in a fish cafe with Ann, Elliott, Rachel his fiance and her mother Anita. Food was OK and company excellent.
Home to bed. Next morning up bright and early as most days. Gets light very early and I usually wake at 05:00 and get another hour after that. Looking forward to today as I am spening it with Rachel and Asher Grynberg (cousins). We arrange to meet at the Petit Bateau shop (one of Linda's favourites - but seemingly not as much as Rachel's) which turns out to be fortuitous as I buy some baby clothes for a forthcoming cousin (on sale as well) which Rachel will schlepp back - double lucky.
We move on to some other shops down the Portobello Rd and lunch at a very nice cafe.
Then on to the Tate Modern where I had been but as Asher is studying Miro in art appreciation at school and I recall seeing some Miros we headed there for my second visit. Didn't spend too long which is in keeping with my view on Galleries - rush past the ones you have no interest in and admire the ones you do.
Ran for the boat to the Tate Britain but missed that after 3 gallery staff gave us the most confusing, convolluted and erroneous directions how to get there. No problem we wondered round to the Borough markets which I would recommend to anybody interested in fine dining, speciality foods etc. where we had a coffee and parted company.
I wondered around like a gypsy for 45 minutes and headed back to Knightsbridge for a mooch - shops open till 21:00. I bought some groceries, took them home, made dinner and off to sleep.
This has happened to me a number of teams. I have come to dislike cities where I have spent limited time but when I have gone back there and lived the city it has grown on me - so it is with London.
Next morning a walk and relax followed by lunch with Richard Sanig and Jared Joffe - two of Justin's good friends. Now what can I say about Richard - a mild case of lovable ADD but such good fun to be around. He lives in London and had a view on everything and anything happening here. Spent 3 hours with him and then headed home for another home-cooked meal and here I am at 21:30 contemplating bed.
Two more days and off to Paris - 7 more days and meet Danielle who, I must say sounds veryh excited. And a few days later my niece Anna.
Anyway hope all is well
Love D
