Anyway it's Wednesday and another week in London as I pray for some respite from the rain. I go for breakfast to a local cafe with Espen and Helen which was good fun as we watched the rain tumble down.
I then headed towards the Tate Modern Gallery wanting to see the Sainsbury Collection of impressionist paintings. Well nobody told me there are two Tate Galleries in London did they. Anyway the Modern which was a 10 minute walk in soaking rain from the nearest station and as you know this hero doesn't believe in Umbrellas - obviously a top selling item in the place. - had a fine collection of Post Impressionist, Sureal and abstract objects which made it worth going to as well.
It was around 3:00pm when I left so I decided to dip my toe into the water and play some rubber bridge at what was TGRs and which is now TGR at the Cavendish Club. I was quickly ushered into the £15 Chicago game where I held my own for a one point win but two points for table fees. It is quite remarkable how similar players are around the world. Alan (think Bernie Shagrin) Maurice (think an average Bilski) and Catherine (think Astrid). Anyway good fun and if the weather continues I will no doubt make a reprise appearance.
Brought home some Chinese takeaway to have with Espen while Helen was out bridging.
I decided today was a rest day. Stayed home till 10:00 and then walked down the high street. Having taken some photos of the kids before I left I had 8x6 prints made, bought frames and gave them to Helen/Espen to thank them for their hospitality.
Only Espen and I for dinner so I decided to cook - garlic prawns, steak, pasta with sauce, stir fried veggies and berrh pancakes. That went down well - maybe get me another invite in the future.
Slept during the afternoon being quite exhausted from all my walking over the past few days.
I am hoping (despite having bet on a draw) that I get to use my two tickets for SAF v England at Lords tomorrow (cricket for the atheists out there) which I am sure will be good fun.Robert rightly asks whether I am trying to buy a good day of weather) Don't know if there is a dress code but I will make a small effort pleading I am Australian if challenged - that should get me by.
Friday morning. sun is shining but they forecast rain - YUK! Have sold my crickt bet for a small profit so now I can hope for better weather.
Espen and Helen left at 07:00 for five days in Norway which is a little disappointing as I have just started bonding with the kids who gave me a kiss as they left and were asking if I was coming with
Anyway off to Lords soon. More later.
Hope all are well
David
